Answered Prayers

I’ve been waiting my whole life to feel what you make me feel,

I remember meeting you and learning I’d need patience,

What is patience if not looking at a thorn to see a rose,

It doesn’t mean to just passively endure but to trust the process and just feel,

First time we met I learnt the difference between being looked at and being seen,

And from that day I believed that I was headed towards love.

He who finds a wife finds a good thing and I found the best one,

I always keep you in my prayers because I could never unlove you,

I was used to typing, deleting my messages and rewriting

hoping that I make you smile and when you reply, that’s the highlight of my day,

I thought I needed to know all the words, but I just needed courage to say them,

Meeting you on that day was like giving my dead flame a new life.

The act of loving is the act of giving yourself away and trusting that you’ll be safe,

I might not always know the way, but every minute, every day, I’ll make sure you know you’re loved,

You had so much love to give it and there I was demanding you overflow my heart with it,

If we were the same person before and after we experienced this love then we haven’t loved enough.

This love is like jumping into the open water, but don’t be afraid to drown, know that I’ll always hold you up.

You ask me why I love you and I say love can’t be explained but it explains all,

Love is a movie and I just want to flip through the parts were in,

You made me realize I’m not the sum of my trauma but just sentimental,

I cant wait to stand on that alter and tell you all my vows because I know that God has answered my prayers,
